Case Study 1: Superficial veins (spider veins)

This 37 year old housewife complained of superficial visible veins in both legs which were worse after her 3rd pregnancy. She suffered from pain and discomfort that were more marked at the end of day, in hot weather and during her menstrual periods. After assessing her with a duplex scan, it was confirmed that she had no underlying varicose veins. She responded well to three treatments of Micro Sclerotherapy with an 80% improvement. She was very pleased with the results. There is 1 in 5 chance that she will need more treatment within the next 4-5 years.

Treatment: Micro-Sclerotherapy only

Case Study 2: Large Varicose Veins

This 49 year old office worker presented with recurrent varicose vein that recurred 4 years after surgery. There was a strong family history of varicose veins. In addition to her varicose veins, she also had multiple visible blue veins and spider veins. A Duplex scan confirmed she had underlying varicose veins in her inner mid thigh. She had two Ultrasound Sclerotherapy treatments followed by Microsclerotherapy treatments 2 and 6 weeks later. Her response to this treatment was excellent. She may require repeat treatments in 3 - 4 years due to her strong family history of veins.

Treatment: Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS), followed by Microsclerotherapy VeinCare - Non Surgical Treatment

Case Study 3: Large Varicose Veins

This 52 year old builder developed a varicose vein in the right leg 15 years after a motor accident. This varicose vein was treated with Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) follow by Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy. A one year follow up revealed complete obliteration of this vein. It is highly unlikely that this patient will have a recurrence of this vein.

Case Study 4: Varicose Veins

This 40 year old school teacher noticed a varicose vein in his right leg that developed over a period of 10 years. He experienced pain and heaviness at the end of the day that was worse in hot weather. He was treated with Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) follow by Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy and normal Sclerotherapy. A two year follow up using ultrasound showed complete obliteration of the varicose vein. It is very unlikely he will have recurrence of this vein and will not need any more treatments.

Case Study 5: Venous Ulcers

This 72 year old lady was referred to me for a large non healing ulcer on her left lower leg that required daily dressing. Ultrasound examination confirmed that she had a varicose vein. This was treated with Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) follow by ultrasound guided sclerotherapy and normal sclerotherapy. The ulcer started healing 4-6 weeks after treating, and she no longer needed daily dressings. Follow up two years later showed no recurrence of her ulcer.

Case Study 6: Facial Veins

These photos showing facial veins were treated by a combination of Gemini KTP and ND YAG laser, both state of the art technologies. Other applications of Gemini laser includes Acne Rosacea (facial redness), Acne, Pigmentation (freckles, blemishes, age spots), skin tightening for facial wrinkles and LASER HAIR REDUCTION for all skin types.

Advance Venous Disease

The following is a series of photos of advanced venous disease and the improvements over time during treatment.

Chronic Venous Hypertension

Profound changes seen as combined effects of venous hypertension and lymphatic stasis and venous ulcer (greater the degreee of venous hypertension, greater the risk of venous ulcer).

Endo Venous Laser Treatment (EVLT) along with U/S guided sclerotherapy is ideal treatment for advanced venous disease and is very successful in healing ulcer of venous origin.

This patient is a 55 year old male who has advanced venous disease. He has noticed swelling pigmentation and ulcer formation (as shown by green arrows) for the last 6 years.

Three Weeks After EVLT and Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

This is after 3 weeks of EVLT and ultrasound guided sclerotherapy and in this session also included injection in the perforator vein close to ulcer. Note the healing ulcer and the size has significantly reduced.

Seven Weeks After EVLT and Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

This is 7 weeks after EVLT and U/S guided treatment. Note both ulcers have completely healed.
